Managing Doubles in the Draw

DETERMINING WHICH PLAYER REGISTERED AND PAID FOR THE DOUBLES TEAM

In doubles, when you've set registration to be paid/completed as teams, rather than individually, you can see which partner registered and paid for the event by clicking the "Players" tab on your event page. Then, choose your doubles division from the dropdown (if there's more than one division). You'll see the list of teams currently registered, and the player listed first (at the top of each team card) is the one who registered and paid for the team. For example, Renee at UTR Sports registered and paid for their teams here. So, if you were to refund this team, Renee at UTR Sports would receive money back because Alex at UTR Sports didn't pay.

Pro Tip: Since the players have registered as a team, both players will be withdrawn at the same time too.

Take note of the following registration status:

  • Registered: completed and paid registration
  • Pending: waiting to complete registration
  • Invited: does not have an activated UTR profile (placed on the Waitlist until partner has confirmed invite)

ASSIGNING A PARTNER WITH THE "NEED A PARTNER" FEATURE

Players will be placed in the "Need Partner" category when:

  • When a provider enables the "Allow player to register without a partner" option on the division creation.
  • The doubles team is registered in separate player payment division, the player not withdrawn is still in the event and will get moved to the "Need Partner" section regardless if the "Allow player to register without a partner" option is enabled.

To assign a player with a partner, click the 3 dots on the right side of the player and select "manage", all players who do not have a partner will be listed on the drop-down box. Once done, the newly created team will be moved to the Main category.

CREATING A TEAM

If the doubles registration is completed as a team, most of your players will already be paired with a partner. However, if you ever need to create a new team, you will be able to do so!

To create a new doubles team, first, select the two players you would like to pair together from the "Available" list. Once they are selected, scroll up to the action bar and click "Create Team".

Hint: You may need to first add players to the "Available" list by selecting them from the "Players Not in Draw" and adding them to the draw.

SPLITTING A TEAM

At any time you are also able to split a team by selecting the team and clicking "Split Team" in the action bar. Once the team is split, the players will then appear in the "Available" list.

ADDING PLAYERS NOT IN THE DRAW

Lastly, if you would like to add a player not in the doubles draw, you can select them from the bottom list titled "Players Not in Draw" and click "Add to draw" in the black bar. Once the player(s) are listed under the available list, you can then select the players you would like to pair up and click "Create Team".

PUTTING PLAYERS IN MORE THAN ONE DOUBLES TEAM

You'll want to make sure that all players you'd like to pair are under the "Available" section. From here, you'll be able to create different new teams and add them to the draw. Note that you cannot place the same player within the same round. In the example below, we have created two teams with the same players and placed them in Round 1 and Round 2 of our draw.

Pro Tip: Currently, Ad-hoc is the only Draw Type that allows you to have players compete in more than one Doubles team.

** Hitting Save is a critical step! ** Although some actions are saved automatically, you'll want to save changes you make before leaving this screen.

SETTING MATCH LOCATION, DATE, TIME

Once you have the players placed in the draw to your liking, you can enter times, dates, and locations for the matches. You can check this article for the full information.

You have the option to do this by round by clicking "Set Location" and "Date &  Time" at the top of each Round, or by individual matches by clicking "Set Date & Time" and "Set Location", found at the top and bottom of each matchbox, respectively:

Pro Tip: Be sure you have first selected either "Match Sheet" or "Order of Play" from the "Schedule" section of the Event Desk to set the match location, date, and times!
