Posting Scores Guidelines

This article enumerates the guidelines for posting scores as players and event providers. If you are a player trying to post scores, click here.

As a player and event provider, you have the ability to post scores to your profile (individual play) and post scores from your event.

FOR PLAYERS:

Posting scores from individual plays are more flexible but it is a best practice to keep these in mind when playing and reporting individual matches:

  • UTR Sports accepts the best 2 of 3 sets format and pro-set formats (8-game or 10-game).
  • Short Sets (or Fast 4 Sets) are also accepted. In a short set, players will play 4 games instead of the traditional 6 games.
  • Doubles scores, be they mixed or gender-specific, are accepted.
  • Incomplete matches are accepted, but please note that not all incomplete matches will count toward your UTR Rating calculation.
  • Tiebreaks are accepted and should be recorded as follows:
    • Match Tiebreaks
      • 7 points — When the score in a match is one set all, or two sets all in best of five sets matches, one tie-break game shall be played to decide the match. This tie-break game replaces the deciding final set. The player/team who first wins seven points shall win this match tie-break and the match provided there is a margin of two points over the opponent(s).
      • 10 points— When the score in a match is one set all, or two sets all in best of five sets matches, one tie-break game shall be played to decide the match. This tie-break game replaces the deciding final set. The player/team who first wins ten points shall win this match tie-break and the match provided there is a margin of two points over the opponent(s). A 10-point Match Tiebreak (first to 10 by a margin of 2) can be played in lieu of a deciding final set.
    • Short Set Tiebreaks
      • When playing short sets only, a short set tie-break may be used instead of a regular 7-point tie-break. The first player/team to win five points wins the “Game” and “Set,” with a deciding point if the score reaches four all.

In order to prompt the system to allow you to input a tiebreak, you will need to first input 1-0 for the set score and then it will populate additional boxes for you to input the tiebreak result.

Note: Self-posted scores are not verified. If you are looking at posting scores from an event, you need to contact the event provider and request to post results for the entire event.

FOR EVENT PROVIDERS:

If you are an event provider running a verified event, the scoring format stated in our verified rules will be as follows:

  • SINGLES: Must be best 2 out of 3 regular sets or 2 out of 3 FAST4 sets

    • Scoring for FAST4 must be based on actual games won. If the set reaches 3-3, a 7-point tiebreaker will be used to decide the set, and the score will be reported as 4-3.

  • DOUBLES: Must be best 2 out of 3 sets, an 8-game pro-set or a regular set. Third-set super tiebreak and no-ad scoring are allowed.

You can follow the instructions in this article on how to record tiebreak scores.
